About Robert Hatch

Robert Hatch is a seasoned Marine Corps leader with extensive crisis management experience in high-threat security environments, including embassy security and Military Security Force operations at the Pentagon. He has a proven ability to plan and lead large-scale exercises involving DoD units, host-nation forces, and interagency partners. He has conducted on-site assessments, analyzed threats, and implemented corrective actions to reduce vulnerabilities.

Rob developed his expertise over 15 years in the Marine Corps, conducting on-site assessments, analyzing threats, and implementing corrective actions to reduce vulnerabilities. Rob is skilled in crisis response, protective security, and counterterrorism, translating complex risks into clear mission-focused plans and training- even in austere, high-risk conditions.

After the military, Rob worked in the Department of State’s Emergency Planning Section within the High Threat Programs Directorate. There, he maintained the Emergency Planning Handbook, managed Emergency Action Plan software, and provided global policy guidance and training. He conducted embassy visits to review and align Emergency Action Plans with DoD and interagency response efforts, authored full-scale exercise scenarios, and advised senior officials and incident Commanders. He also collaborated with key stakeholders to capture lessons learned, implement improvements, and ensure readiness for natural disasters, civil unrest, and terrorism.
